EyeROV Unveils Sea Serpent Autonomous Surface Vessel: India’s Leap in Maritime Reconnaissance & Strike

Sea Serpent Autonomous Surface Vessel

Tech Desk: Kochi-based marine robotics firm EyeROV has unveiled the groundbreaking Sea Serpent Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV), marking a significant advancement in India’s maritime defence capabilities. Also known as the High Speed Autonomous Surface Craft (HISAC), this indigenously developed ASV is engineered to revolutionize reconnaissance, surveillance, coastal security, and critical maritime strike-oriented operations, including Kamikaze missions. Its unveiling signals EyeROV’s strategic expansion from underwater robotics into advanced autonomous surface warfare platforms, showcasing India’s growing prowess in defence technology.

The Sea Serpent is meticulously designed to excel in challenging coastal and littoral environments, offering rapid response and persistent surveillance capabilities. It boasts impressive speeds of 25 to 30 knots and can carry essential mission equipment weighing between 40 and 50 kg. A standout feature is its electric jet propulsion system, which significantly reduces its acoustic signature while enhancing maneuverability – crucial attributes for sensitive operational environments and covert missions.

Equipped with advanced autonomous features such as precise waypoint navigation, geofencing, and LiDAR-based obstacle avoidance, the Sea Serpent can execute complex missions with minimal human intervention. Operators can maintain control through secure radio-frequency telemetry links at ranges of up to 5 km. Its highly modular architecture allows for flexible payload integration, making it adaptable for a broad spectrum of maritime applications, from intelligence gathering to port and naval base security, maritime domain awareness, and autonomous patrol missions. This innovation firmly positions India at the forefront of autonomous maritime technology, bolstering national security and operational readiness.
