Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to revolutionize India’s defence manufacturing with a colossal ₹10,000 crore (approximately $1.1-1.2 billion) infrastructure investment. This ambitious overhaul aims to significantly accelerate the HAL Tejas Production Boost, alongside advanced helicopters and future aviation projects.

Following a robust financial year, this strategic move directly addresses the Indian Armed Forces’ growing demand for domestically built aircraft. HAL currently manages an unprecedented order book exceeding ₹2 lakh crore, including over 180 Tejas Mk1A jets and 156 Prachand LCH units. To overcome existing manufacturing bottlenecks and supply chain hurdles, the multi-year capital expenditure plan will establish fresh assembly lines and upgrade facilities in Bengaluru and Nashik.

This includes a third Tejas manufacturing line and advanced processing units. With private industry partnerships, HAL targets boosting Tejas output from 16 to 24+ aircraft annually. Beyond Tejas, this investment will fast-track military helicopter assembly, revitalize older fleets, and lay groundwork for projects like AMCA and IMRH. This rapid development will address the Indian Air Force’s fighter squadron shortage, reduce foreign imports, and boost ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ goals, positioning India as a global exporter of light combat jets.
