Meet Twitter.now: A New Social Network Built on Trust and AI, Challenging X

Twitter.now

Tech Desk: A surprising new player has emerged in the social media landscape: “Twitter.now.” Operated by Operation Bluebird, a startup co-founded by former Twitter trademark counsel Stephen Coates, this platform directly challenges X (formerly Twitter) – which even filed a lawsuit last year to stop its launch. Operation Bluebird argues that X relinquished key trademarks, opening the door for their innovative approach.

Stephen Coates clarifies that Twitter.now isn’t merely an attempt to revive the old platform. Instead, it aims to establish a “public square organized around trust, transparency, and user choice.” This vision is a direct response to the opaque algorithms and moderation challenges that have plagued existing social networks, including X and even newer alternatives like Bluesky.

At the heart of Twitter.now’s offering is VERA, an AI system designed to gauge posts, verify claims, provide source context, and assign a trust score. Users gain unprecedented control, able to filter their feeds based on their preferred trust thresholds. While currently in testing with early access priced at $20, the platform promises VERA 2.0 with expanded capabilities to further empower users in their content consumption.

This novel approach to moderation and content verification could redefine user experience in the often-chaotic world of social media. Twitter.now’s commitment to user-driven trust signals represents a significant departure from traditional models, potentially offering a more reliable and transparent online environment.
