Tech Desk: The upcoming Poco F9 series is poised to shake up the global smartphone market, but not just with its performance-focused hardware. Just a day before its official debut, leaked pricing suggests the top-tier Poco F9 Ultra could astonishingly cost twice as much as its F9 Pro sibling in certain regions, particularly the Philippines. This revelation comes from tipster Abhishek Yadav, indicating a significant premium for the Ultra model.

According to Yadav’s X post, the Poco F9 Pro is expected to launch at PHP 49,999 (around Rs. 76,400) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. In stark contrast, the Poco F9 Ultra is rumored to command a price tag of PHP 89,999 (approximately Rs. 1.37 lakh). This pricing strategy, if accurate, marks a substantial jump from the previous F8 series, where the Ultra was only marginally more expensive than the Pro.

Both the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra are anticipated to mirror the Redmi K100 series from China, featuring powerful chipsets. The F9 Ultra will pack the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while the Pro variant will utilize a binned version, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V series. Expect impressive displays too: a 6.59-inch QHD+ Plastic OLED with a 185Hz refresh rate for the Pro, and a larger 6.85-inch screen for the Ultra.

Beyond raw power, Poco is also focusing on aesthetics and battery life. The F9 Ultra will debut in a striking Dark Cherry color with a glass-fibre finish. The F9 Pro, however, gets the Aurora Green, boasting a unique luminous design that glows in the dark. Battery capacities are also substantial, with the Pro model potentially housing a 6,330mAh unit and the Ultra a massive 8,050mAh cell, ensuring extended usage.
