Tech Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 on September 17 in New Delhi, marking a pivotal moment for the nation’s burgeoning semiconductor industry. This three-day event, held at Yashobhoomi, will convene global semiconductor giants, policymakers, investors, researchers, and startups, all keen to explore India’s rapidly expanding capabilities across the semiconductor and electronics value chain.

Organized jointly by the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and SEMI, the global industry association, SEMICON India 2026 carries the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.” This theme underscores India’s strategic push to establish a robust domestic semiconductor ecosystem, moving beyond simply consumption to becoming a key player in design and manufacturing.

The conference arrives at a crucial juncture, buoyed by strong policy support and increasing global demand for diversified and resilient supply chains. With over 600 exhibitors, including major international firms, the event will not only showcase technological advancements but also foster collaborations for workforce development and women’s empowerment in the tech sector.
