Ather Scooters Now Understand Your Voice: Hands-Free Control Rolls Out

Ather voice command

Tech Desk: Ather Energy has officially launched its highly anticipated ‘Voice on Ather’ feature, bringing seamless voice command functionality to its electric scooters. This significant update, powered by a large language model (LLM) tuned for Indian accents, allows riders to control navigation, vehicle settings, calls, and media using natural language.

The ‘Voice on Ather’ feature is now available for all Ather scooters Gen 3 and above, including models like the 450X, 450 Apex, and Rizta Z. This means riders can effortlessly manage their journey and onboard experience without taking their hands off the handlebars. Imagine asking, “How far is the nearest charger?” or “Navigate home” and having your scooter respond instantly.

This innovative system is compatible with the Ather Halo smart helmet and any standard Bluetooth headset, including third-party intercoms. This ensures riders can maintain connectivity and control regardless of their preferred accessory. Ather CEO Tarun Mehta has hinted at future updates that will enable two-way communication, with the scooter proactively alerting riders to potential hazards like potholes or low tyre pressure.

While currently unavailable on the 450S and Rizta S models, the widespread rollout signifies Ather’s commitment to enhancing rider experience through cutting-edge technology. Users are already reporting receiving the update over-the-air, marking a new era of intuitive interaction with electric scooters.
