Tech Desk: Tata has officially unveiled the updated Tiago and Tiago EV, confirming a launch date of May 28, 2026. Both popular hatchbacks receive a significant exterior overhaul, sporting a bolder and more modern aesthetic that aligns with Tata’s latest design language. Expect new headlights with eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs, redesigned tail-lights featuring vertical LED strips connected by a chunky bar, and fresh alloy wheel designs. Notably, the ICE version gets a black grille similar to the Altroz, while the EV adopts a body-coloured blanked-off grille, differentiating their front fascias.

Inside, while extensive changes aren’t expected, crucial updates are on the horizon. A 360-degree camera setup has been confirmed, a first for the Tiago duo, promising enhanced convenience and safety. Furthermore, an updated instrument cluster is highly anticipated to complement the existing 10.25-inch infotainment system, bringing a more contemporary feel to the cabin. Safety is also set to improve dramatically, with the facelifted models likely offering six airbags as standard, a significant upgrade from the current two.

Under the hood, the Tiago ICE is expected to retain its 1.2-litre petrol engine, along with the CNG option. For the Tiago EV, there’s strong speculation about slightly larger battery packs, aiming to deliver an increased claimed range, mirroring Tata’s strategy with the Punch EV. Prices are anticipated to be slightly revised upwards, and the EV might also introduce a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) scheme, potentially lowering initial ownership costs. These updates aim to strengthen its position against rivals like the Citroen eC3 and MG Comet EV.
