Kaal Bhairava Drone

India’s ambitions as a global defence manufacturing power just took a significant leap forward. The indigenous AI combat drone, ‘Kaal Bhairava Drone’, designed by Indian AI warfare company FWDA, will now be manufactured in Europe through a landmark partnership with Portugal’s SKETCHPIXEL. This collaboration marks a critical integration of Indian-designed autonomous warfare systems into European and NATO-linked defence networks.

The ‘Kaal Bhairava Drone’ is a medium-altitude, long-endurance autonomous combat aircraft boasting a 3,000-kilometre range and over 30 hours of operational endurance. Equipped with advanced AI-driven target recognition and swarm coordination capabilities, it represents a new generation of autonomous warfare platforms. SKETCHPIXEL, known for its fighter jet simulation systems, will contribute simulation technologies, AI integration, and communications infrastructure, while FWDA retains full intellectual property rights for the aircraft’s core autonomous systems and airframe.

This strategic move by FWDA not only showcases increasing global interest in India’s defence innovation but also positions the nation closer to becoming a leading defence exporter. Portugal’s strategic location offers crucial access to NATO networks, paving the way for wider European collaboration and future global deployments. This partnership underscores a shift towards autonomous airpower ecosystems, highlighting India’s growing prominence in next-generation defence technology.
