Tech Desk: In a significant admission, Pakistan’s top military spokesman, Lt General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhury, has openly acknowledged India’s growing military capabilities and its clear firepower advantage. Speaking to Al Arabiya English, Chaudhury stated that Pakistan respects India’s defence advancements and understands New Delhi’s extensive investment in its military arsenal, while emphasising Pakistan’s focus on defensive capabilities without aggressive designs.

This candid remark comes as India rapidly expands its indigenous defence manufacturing base and strengthens collaborations with global partners. Post-Operation Sindoor, India has intensified efforts to fortify its capabilities, especially for a potential two-front security scenario. Recent milestones include the foundation stone for the ₹1,460 crore Navdurga defence testing range and the first flight test of Project Kusha’s indigenous long-range surface-to-air missile, planned for a 400 km range.

Further boosting self-reliance, the government recently approved transferring DRDO conventional missile technologies to Indian private firms. Concurrently, India is deepening defence cooperation with Russia, discussing upgrades for 260 Su-30MKI aircraft, potential joint production of Su-57 fighter jets, and acquiring advanced S-400 and S-500 air defence systems. This dual approach of robust indigenous innovation and strategic external collaboration contrasts sharply with Pakistan’s continued heavy reliance on foreign military partnerships, primarily with China and Turkey.

India’s trajectory underscores a deliberate strategy to achieve resilience and operational superiority. Pakistan’s acknowledgement highlights the evolving regional security dynamics, with India’s defence modernization increasingly shaping South Asia’s geopolitical landscape.
