Airtel Unlimited 5G Data Hotspot: Is Your Free Sharing Restricted?

Airtel Unlimited 5G Data Hotspot

Tech Desk: Airtel Unlimited 5G Data Hotspot users across India are increasingly reporting a frustrating issue: an inability to share their ‘unlimited’ 5G data via mobile hotspot. Despite the offer’s 2023 launch promising unrestricted access, these widespread complaints are fueling rumors of an unstated restriction, sparking confusion and frustration among subscribers.

The heart of the matter lies in conflicting information regarding Airtel’s terms and conditions. While numerous screenshots circulating online purportedly show clauses stating that Unlimited 5G Data is strictly for “personal and non-commercial use” and cannot be shared via hotspot, sources close to Gadgets360 firmly deny the existence of such conditions on Airtel’s official website. A check of Airtel’s terms page at the time of writing also reveals no explicit mention of hotspot limitations, adding to the ambiguity.

This hotspot controversy unfolds amidst other key developments for Airtel. The company recently transitioned existing 5G customers to a dual-mode 5G network (NSA+SA), a strategic step towards 5G Advanced adoption in India. Furthermore, Airtel has quietly adjusted its postpaid portfolio, removing the Rs. 549 plan, leaving the Rs. 449 plan as the new entry-level option.

For many subscribers, however, these broader changes take a backseat to the pressing question of their Airtel Unlimited 5G Data Hotspot access. Clear communication from Airtel is urgently needed to address this critical functionality and restore user confidence in their ‘unlimited’ promise.
