Flipkart to Create 2.2 Lakh Jobs Ahead of The Big Billion Days Sale: Boost for India’s Festive Economy

Flipkart Jobs

As the festive season approaches, India’s job market has received a massive boost from e-commerce giant Flipkart. The company has announced that it will create nearly 2.2 lakh temporary jobs across the country ahead of its flagship sale event, The Big Billion Days. This move not only ensures smooth festive operations but also opens up valuable employment opportunities for thousands of people.

Where Are the Job Opportunities?

According to Flipkart, the majority of roles will be generated in supply chain, logistics, and last-mile delivery. The hiring drive will be particularly strong in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where the demand surge is expected to be highest. Temporary positions include pickers, packers, sorters, and delivery executives, all critical to handling festive season operations.

A Push for Inclusive Hiring

This year, Flipkart has placed significant emphasis on diversity and inclusivity. About 15% of new hires are freshers, while there has also been a notable increase in opportunities for women, Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Flipkart’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Seema Nair, highlighted:

“The Big Billion Days is not just a sale for us; it is a celebration of speed, scale, and shared progress. This year, we are focusing heavily on technology, sustainability, and inclusive employment ahead of the festive season.”

New Hubs and Training Programs

To meet the festive rush, Flipkart is also setting up 650 new festive-only delivery hubs across India, including in cities like Siliguri, Kundli, and Jakhra, along with several other Tier 2 and Tier 3 locations.

The company’s Supply Chain Operations Academy (SCOA) has already trained thousands of candidates. With a target of upskilling 10,000 people by 2025, SCOA is equipping fresh talent with both digital and classroom training. Over 6,000 graduates have already received training in supply chain operations.

A Win-Win for India’s Festive Market

In India, festivals mean a surge in shopping, and with it, a wave of seasonal employment. Flipkart’s initiative is not just about handling the festive rush—it represents hope and opportunity for India’s youth, women, and marginalized communities. By blending technology, inclusivity, and skill development, Flipkart is shaping a brighter future for the country’s workforce.
