JioHotstar’s Major MENA Expansion: Indian Entertainment Now Streaming via STARZPLAY

JioHotstar MENA expansion

Tech Desk: JioHotstar has officially launched its services across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, marking a significant step in its global growth strategy. This ambitious move brings a vast catalogue of Indian entertainment to millions of viewers, particularly the large South Asian diaspora, through a strategic partnership with STARZPLAY.

Viewers across key MENA countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, and Morocco, can now access a rich array of content. This includes popular Indian films, television shows, and reality programming in up to 10 languages, such as Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Bangla. Fan-favorite franchises like the upcoming season of ‘Koffee with Karan’ and the ongoing ‘Bigg Boss’ will also be available.

Unlike a standalone app, JioHotstar content will be integrated as a dedicated section within the STARZPLAY application and website. To access this library, subscribers will need to opt for a monthly STARZPLAY plan that includes JioHotstar, with options like the Plus plan (AED 34.99/month) and the Max plan (AED 49.99/month, including sports).

Amit Malhotra, Head of International Business at JioStar, emphasized the strategic importance of this JioHotstar MENA expansion. He highlighted the region’s substantial South Asian community and their deep appetite for diverse entertainment. This partnership with STARZPLAY allows JioHotstar to enter the market with immediate scale, offering everything from new originals and daily television to blockbuster films and iconic reality franchises, while simultaneously strengthening STARZPLAY’s content portfolio.
