Gone are the days of displaying complete Aadhaar details during authentication. The new app champions selective sharing, ensuring only necessary information is disclosed for specific services. A major highlight is the secure QR-based Aadhaar sharing, perfect for in-person verification at various establishments. Crucially, the system moves beyond simple OTPs, integrating face and QR verification to drastically reduce misuse risks and tighten data access.

Users gain unprecedented control over their biometric data, with the ability to lock or manage fingerprint, face, and iris authentication directly within the app. UIDAI emphasizes this feature will curb unauthorized access, especially on shared devices. Setting up the new app involves a multi-step process, including mobile number verification, OTP, and in some cases, face authentication, followed by PIN/biometric unlock and Aadhaar number registration, all designed for robust identity confirmation.
