A remarkable milestone has been created in the healthcare landscape of North 24 Parganas. Until now, residents of the suburban region had to depend heavily on major hospitals in Kolkata for such highly complex medical procedures. But Madhyamgram has changed that picture forever. Viva City Hospital has set a rare precedent by successfully performing the first Organ Transplant in the history of the city.

According to reports, the patient—a 22-year-old young man—had been suffering from severe kidney complications for a long time. In a critical condition, he was admitted to the private hospital on 9 November. Without losing time, a specialist medical team initiated preparations. In just two days, on 11 November, a successful Kidney Transplant was carried out.

Outstanding Success on the Very First Attempt

This complicated surgery was led by the hospital’s Managing Director, CEO, and renowned nephrologist Dr. Pratik Sengupta. Describing this outstanding first-attempt success as a “significant step” for healthcare in the region, Dr. Sengupta said:
“Conducting such a complex surgery for the first time in Madhyamgram and achieving success in the very first attempt makes us immensely proud. This is the outcome of teamwork, meticulous planning, and the unwavering trust of the patient’s family.”

Patient Recovers and Returns Home

Post-surgery, the young patient remained under strict medical supervision. His condition improved steadily and significantly. Finally, 15 days after the operation, on 26 November, he was discharged from the hospital in completely stable condition. The successful recovery brought immense relief to both his family and the hospital team.

A Major Leap for Local Healthcare

The success achieved by Viva City Hospital is not only a moment of pride for Madhyamgram but also a major advancement for the entire healthcare system of North 24 Parganas. This milestone ensures that residents will no longer need to travel far for advanced or highly complex treatments. The achievement stands as a source of inspiration and a push towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in suburban areas.
