Truecaller’s Growth Matures: Navigating Competition and Market Shifts

Truecaller growth

Truecaller, the global caller ID platform with over 500 million users, is entering a challenging phase as its **Truecaller growth** matures. India, its largest market accounting for 70% of users, is showing signs of saturation, with downloads declining 16% year-over-year in 2025. This slowdown is exacerbated by increasing competition from telecom-led solutions like Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) and integrated features from smartphone giants Apple and Google. Investor concerns are evident, with Truecaller’s shares plummeting 78% since its 2021 IPO.

The immediate risk, however, isn’t CNAP, but pressure on its advertising segment, particularly after losing significant traffic from a major partner (identified as Google) due to an “algorithm issue.” The company is strategically diversifying its ad partners and building an in-house exchange. Despite these headwinds, Truecaller is adapting. Its in-app revenue is soaring, reaching $39.3 million in 2025, and its iOS presence is expanding. The enterprise offering, Truecaller for Business, and premium subscriptions also show steady growth.

While balancing utility, scale, and privacy remains a challenge, Truecaller aims to sustain momentum by innovating with AI-based solutions and expanding across all revenue streams amidst evolving communication landscapes.
