KTM 790 Duke Gets Major Overhaul: Lighter, Sharper, and More Ergonomic

KTM 790 Duke updated

Tech Desk: KTM has just unveiled a significantly updated 790 Duke, marking its most substantial revision to date. While the core 799cc LC8c engine remains Euro 5+ compliant and largely unchanged, the Austrian manufacturer has meticulously reworked the bike’s ergonomics, chassis, suspension, and braking systems to enhance rider experience.

The most impactful changes focus on rider comfort and feedback. KTM has fitted a new handlebar with a more open angle, repositioned footpegs, and redesigned the seat for a more natural riding posture. A revised subframe, triple clamps, and fuel tank aim to improve front-wheel feel, contributing to a claimed 2kg weight reduction despite a seemingly larger aesthetic.

Styling cues from KTM’s larger Super Duke models, like the 990 and 1390, are now evident. This includes a redesigned LED headlight, slimmer bodywork, and a reshaped front cowl. Underneath, the suspension receives updates from WP APEX units, offering improved adjustability for both the fork and rear shock, with simplified settings.

Braking performance is boosted by a new, in-house WP radial braking system, promising better stopping power and lever feel than the previous J.Juan units. Standard fitment of a WP steering damper and new Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires further refine the package. KTM also confirmed the discontinuation of its ‘Demo Mode’ feature due to customer feedback.

While the updated KTM 790 Duke is set to launch in international markets soon, official availability and pricing for India are yet to be announced.
