Tech Desk: Get ready for a significant addition to India’s electric vehicle landscape! Tata Motors has officially teased the highly anticipated Tata Sierra EV, confirming its grand debut on June 30. This marks the brand’s seventh all-electric model, a testament to Tata’s aggressive push in the EV segment.

First showcased as a concept in 2020, the production-spec Sierra EV promises to blend its iconic, squared-off design with modern EV aesthetics. Expect the signature curved-over rear-window, connected LED lighting, but with a body-coloured sealed-off grille distinct from its ICE counterpart. Inside, higher trims are likely to boast a triple-screen setup, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and a premium audio system, elevating the cabin experience.

Mechanically, the Sierra EV is expected to share its acti.ev+ architecture and powertrain options with the Harrier EV, including 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs. Crucially, Tata has confirmed both RWD and AWD configurations, with the latter likely reserved for the larger battery variant. Positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV, it’s projected to be priced competitively between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

This midsize electric SUV is set to intensify competition, rivalling models like the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, and Maruti e Vitara. With its long-awaited arrival, the Tata Sierra EV is poised to make a strong impact on the burgeoning Indian EV market.
