2027 Kawasaki KLX300SM Unveiled: More Power, ABS, and Smart Tech Upgrades

Kawasaki KLX300SM

Tech Desk: Kawasaki has just pulled the wraps off the 2027 Kawasaki KLX300SM, a supermotard receiving a subtle yet significant refresh for overseas markets. This isn’t just a cosmetic update; the popular model now boasts improved performance, enhanced safety features, and modern connectivity, making it an even more compelling package for enthusiasts.

At the heart of the upgrade is the 292cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, which, while retaining its displacement, features revised internals. A crucial change from a needle bearing to a plain bearing in the connecting rod’s big end contributes to improved efficiency, boosting the output to 26.8hp and 24.9Nm – a noticeable bump from its predecessor’s 25hp and 23.9Nm. This engineering tweak promises a more refined and powerful ride.

Safety sees a welcome addition with single-channel ABS now standard on the front 300mm disc, a feature often mandated in many regions. To accommodate this new hardware, Kawasaki has ingeniously switched from a dual-radiator setup to a single, left-mounted unit, ensuring cooling performance remains uncompromised. Keeping pace with the digital age, the 2027 Kawasaki KLX300SM also integrates updated instrumentation with smartphone connectivity via the Kawasaki Rideology app, offering convenient call/SMS alerts and navigation support.

The KLX300SM retains its hallmark supermotard characteristics, including long-travel suspension – a 230mm USD fork and a 206mm adjustable monoshock – paired with agile 17-inch road-biased tyres. While priced at USD 6,399 in the US and set for early December availability, its arrival in India remains unlikely for the foreseeable future, despite the growing local appetite for niche, fun-to-ride motorcycles like the KLX230.
