Tech Desk: Porsche is gearing up for a significant move in the Indian luxury EV market, officially debuting the Porsche Cayenne Electric on September 30. This highly anticipated electric SUV, which saw an initial launch last year with prices beginning at Rs 1.76 crore (ex-showroom), arrives in two potent forms: the standard Cayenne Electric and the formidable Cayenne Turbo Electric.

At its core, the Porsche Cayenne Electric features a substantial 113kWh battery pack, promising an impressive claimed range of up to 642km on a single charge. Performance figures are equally compelling; the standard model delivers 408hp, while the Turbo Electric variant unleashes a staggering 1,156hp, capable of rocketing from 0-100kph in a mere 2.5 seconds. Both variants benefit from adaptive air suspension as standard, ensuring a dynamic yet refined driving experience, complemented by an optional 11kW wireless charging system – a first for Porsche.

Aesthetically, the Porsche Cayenne Electric retains its iconic silhouette but introduces a refreshed front end, characterized by a blanked-off grille and active aerodynamic vents designed for efficient battery and component cooling. Inside, the cabin is a technological marvel, highlighted by a cutting-edge 14.5-inch curved infotainment touchscreen – a debut for Porsche in India. An optional 14.9-inch passenger display and augmented-reality head-up display further elevate the experience.

Luxury abounds with features like eight-way electrically adjustable front seats (upgradable to 18-way), four-zone automatic climate control, and a standard 14-speaker Bose sound system. Generous cargo space, including a 90-litre frunk and a 781-litre boot, adds to its practicality.
