Enter Liux, a Spanish startup challenging the status quo with its upcoming “Liux Big” microcar, making a bold bet on sustainability. While its name playfully suggests size, the real “big” ambition lies in its commitment to circularity and eco-conscious design, aiming to redefine what a European electric vehicle can be.

Co-founders Antonio Espinosa de los Monteros and David Sancho are steering Liux with a north star of sustainability. The Liux Big features a revolutionary fiber body made from a linen-based biocomposite, meticulously designed for material integrity and future recycling – a concept Espinosa calls “real circularity.” This goes beyond lab-only recycling, ensuring components can truly have a second life.

Despite the “made in Spain” pride, Liux acknowledges the global supply chain reality. However, its batteries, though not European, are rechargeable at home, even with solar power. The vehicle prioritizes easy maintenance and longevity, pushing back against rapid obsolescence. With Europe-wide homologation secured and production ramping up for a 2027 launch, Liux is poised to offer a genuinely greener alternative.

Priced under €18,000, the Liux Big targets city dwellers seeking a second car, emphasizing safety and practical features like a 260-liter trunk, exceeding typical microcar constraints. Liux isn’t just selling a car; it’s selling a vision for a more sustainable, European-engineered future in urban mobility, distinguishing itself from competitors through thoughtful design and environmental responsibility.
