Meta Reliance AI data centre India

Tech Desk: Meta and Reliance Industries are teaming up to build a cutting-edge, AI-enabled data centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This strategic collaboration marks a significant step in Meta’s commitment to India, a rapidly growing market for its social media and AI services.

The massive 168-megawatt facility is designed to power Meta’s extensive product suite, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, while also supporting its ambitious AI initiatives, such as “personal superintelligence.” Reliance will leverage its expertise in construction to build the state-of-the-art campus, while Meta will lease and operate the capacity, reflecting a modern approach to infrastructure deployment.

This partnership highlights the critical need for robust AI infrastructure globally. The Jamnagar data centre is slated to run on renewable energy and will utilize desalinated seawater, underscoring a commitment to sustainability. Meta will cover all electricity and water costs, viewing this investment as pivotal for its AI and data centre expansion.

Beyond the data centre, the collaboration aims to deepen the existing ties between Meta and Reliance across connectivity, e-commerce, and AI innovation. This venture is poised to bolster India’s position as a leader in the global AI revolution, offering substantial digital infrastructure upgrades.
