Tech Desk: JSW MG Motor India has officially launched the highly anticipated Hector Tomahawk EV, making a significant splash in the Indian electric vehicle market. Priced from Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom), with an innovative Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option starting at just Rs 13.99 lakh, this new electric SUV boasts an impressive 517km MIDC range from its 69.2kWh battery. Available in both five- and seven-seat configurations, deliveries are set to begin in September.

Built on MG’s advanced ADAPT architecture, the Hector Tomahawk EV offers a compelling package of performance and technology. Its electric motor delivers 204hp and 310Nm of torque, promising a brisk 0-100kph sprint in 8.2 seconds. Charging capabilities include 7.4kW AC (10-100 percent in 12.5 hours) and up to 90kW DC fast charging, achieving 30-80 percent in approximately 35 minutes.

Inside, the Tomahawk EV features a minimalist cabin dominated by a large 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display. Luxury amenities like ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 256-colour ambient lighting, and a 10-speaker Infinity sound system enhance the driving experience. Safety is paramount with six airbags standard and a Level 2 ADAS suite offering 11 advanced functions, including adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.

The BaaS program is a game-changer, allowing buyers to reduce upfront costs significantly, though a separate battery rental of Rs 4.90 per km applies. This strategic pricing positions the Hector Tomahawk EV to rival competitors like the Mahindra XEV 9S, Kia Carens Clavis EV, Tata Harrier EV, and Mahindra XEV 9e, offering a versatile and feature-rich electric option for diverse Indian families.
