AlphaX Aerospace Unveils Sea Rover: India’s First Amphibious Hybrid Aircraft Set to Revolutionize Missions

India's first amphibious hybrid aircraft

Tech Desk: AlphaX Aerospace, a Bangalore-based startup, has unveiled the Sea Rover, a groundbreaking platform poised to become India’s first amphibious hybrid aircraft. This marks a significant indigenous innovation, capable of operating seamlessly across land, air, and water, offering unprecedented versatility for both civilian and defence applications.

The Sea Rover integrates electric and conventional engines in its hybrid propulsion system, promising extended range, reduced emissions, and enhanced operational flexibility. Designed for multi-role missions, it can perform maritime patrol, search and rescue, humanitarian relief, and regional connectivity, taking off and landing from runways, water bodies, and short strips.

Building on its SkyRover electric VTOL program, AlphaX Aerospace incorporates proprietary technologies like AeroCore for modular airframes and FlightCore for intelligent control. The aircraft aims for a 700-800 km range, 300-350 km/h cruise speed, and a 6-12 passenger capacity, optimized for challenging amphibious environments.

Incubated under the AIC Crescent Innovation Council with NITI Aayog’s support, this project aligns with India’s push for self-reliance in aerospace. While global amphibious aircraft exist, Sea Rover’s hybrid-electric approach positions India at the forefront of sustainable amphibious aviation, offering a strategic edge in mobility and maritime operations. The aircraft is currently in its concept stage, exploring partnerships for development.
