Android 17 Update Plagues Google Pixel 8, 9, and 10 Users with Touchscreen and Connectivity Bugs

Google Pixel Android 17 issues

Tech Desk: The highly anticipated Android 17 update, recently rolled out to Google Pixel phones, has swiftly turned into a nightmare for many users across the Pixel 8, 9, and 10 series. Instead of promised enhancements, owners are reporting widespread issues with both touchscreen responsiveness and crucial network connectivity, leaving many frustrated just weeks after the update’s release.

Among the most jarring complaints are inconsistent touchscreen responses, with phones randomly failing to register taps and swipes. Even stranger is “gesture inversion,” where basic actions like swiping up result in scrolling down. While Pixel 6 users seem less affected, the problem is prominent on newer models, suggesting a software glitch rather than a hardware defect. Toggling “Smooth Display” offers temporary relief for some, but a permanent fix is eagerly awaited.

Compounding these touch issues are significant connectivity problems. Many Pixel 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 8 Pro, 8a, and even some 6a users have reported complete loss of 5G, defaulting to slower LTE or no signal at all. Wi-Fi networks are also failing to reconnect automatically, and core Google apps struggle to load on Wi-Fi. A temporary workaround involves resetting mobile network settings, which often restores 5G but requires reconfiguring Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Google has acknowledged these Google Pixel Android 17 issues but has yet to release an official patch. Users encountering these bugs are strongly encouraged to report them via the built-in feedback tool or official Pixel community forums. The volume of user reports is critical for Google to prioritize and expedite a stable solution.
